Devashish Taknet is an impact investment professional with over a decade of experience in social finance, fundraising, and multi-sectoral partnerships. He combines his grassroots zeal with business acumen to foster sustainable community-led change. His work spanning two continents with nonprofits, governmental agencies, and private entities has given him insights into the social enterprise landscape in South Asia, Africa, and North America.
Devashish joined Upaya at a pivotal time of growth for the organization, as it prepares to increase its impact tenfold. As part of the Management team, his efforts are focused on cultivating key partnerships, mobilizing resources to achieve organizational goals, and establishing Upaya as one of the leading non-profits in the US ecosystem focused on poverty alleviation through job creation.
Previously, at Barefoot College International (BCI), Devashish managed multi-million dollar partnerships that empowered rural women across India through innovative livelihood development programs. His continued involvement as a Board Member of BCI USA shapes the strategic direction of their regional training centers, advancing initiatives that address 14 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
He earned his Master's in Public Administration from New York University, a postgraduate diploma in Development Leadership from the Indian School of Development Management, and his Bachelor's in Commerce (Hons) from the University of Delhi. Devashish is the recipient of various scholarships and fellowships recognizing his leadership in social impact. Beyond his professional pursuits, he enjoys basketball, golf, and backpacking.
